Small Tench, nice Gold Fish, Orfes and Carp to 7lb. Most bait catch because it’s a new pond and hasn’t been over fished. Maggots, bread, corn, meat pellets.

This naturally formed spring fed lake is packed with over 3 tonnes of quality Carp and Tench with a few big Eels too.

Smith's pond is situated in the old Colliery town of Maltby. It is without doubt a very spring, summer and autumn venue. The fishing can be very difficult during cold spells as there isn't a great deal of depth. A small stream that enters at the top end feeds the water and this probably has something to do with the depth as it is only 2ft deep here. Hanley Park Lake
Pontefract Park Lake is a small water but being in a park and cheap to fish it does get a lot of hammer during the warmer months. It is also a boating lake and suffers from the dogs and sticks landing in you swim. There is a walkway around the circumference, which makes most of the pegs ideal for anglers with disabilities. The area does suffer somewhat from petty crime and damage, so take extra care of your tackle or valuables.
