hello i recently moved in the area and spotted the lake on a walk. i rung the tackle shop who said is was council land and free to fish until someone buys the land. i was wondering if anyone new the stock off fish in this lake as i would like to fish here for carp.
Vernons lodge was owned by Vernons Carus mill,they sold it to BOVIS housing During ownership by Vernons and the Bovis Vernons angling club had a long term lease on it ,you could get a ticket from Waynes tackle or Lostock Hall Tackle shop.Vernons lads put some big carp in it and unfortunatly it attracted the wrong type of people including "The Poles" who stole a lot of the fish .It used to be a great silver fish lake with some ,nice bream in it, I suggest a visit to the two named tackle shops to see the state of play today .
Can anyone clarify if this lake is council land still or has anyone got paperwork of proof to say they have taken over as I have hurd of a group of lads are trying to claim the land but would like to see proof of ownership and if its council lad then it's free to fish?

well must have been the only fish there. plenty of bites just one catch. forgot my phone. if your not catching have a look at changing ground bait. i allways float fish. even when Carp fishing. Got a free CD From Waynes fishing shop in Ashton. just followed the instructions & bobs your uncle. If yr struggling to locate the fish, you can buy a watch for about 40 pound Casio do a good one. then its all up to you

Yeah you can night fish
Good afternoon, been coming here a while now.. used ground Baits, used all sorts of different Baits but not even had a nibble? Complaining about the membership that I’ve paid to fish on the lake, but there’s no fish in there.
get out into the middle ,where the deep water and flow to the old mill current ran .
