Windthorpe Pits

Newark and Sherwood, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom

The lake is some 15 acres with a pretty even depth of around 7/8ft at normal level. The bottom has silt/gravel areas with little or no weed at all, and no bars, its quite flat. The margins are from nothing, sloping out gradually. The lake level does rise and fall with the adjoining river Trent and at times quite fast. The lake holds a good head of Carp, Bream, Roach, Perch, Pike and the odd Zander. It also has a 650 mtr stretch of the river Trent to fish with terrific Barbel, Chub, Bream, Carp and Pike. The bank has good spaced out pegs and pretty good access to the waters edge, the river is accessable via the lake access gate and you can park your car behind you on every peg.
