Birkwood Farm Fisheries is run by Dick and Sandra Lindley. Set on the Rural Urban Fringe of Altofts near Normanton, Birkwood Fisheries is only 3 miles from Wakefield and 6 miles from the centre of Leeds. Birkwood Fisheries has been operating since 1998 and has already built up an enviable reputation. Demand has meant that over the last 3 years a programme of expansion has taken place and now there are 4 very different lakes offering very different style’s of fishing. The Main Lake This 3 acre lake was built in 1996. It contains Carp to 25lbs, Roach, Rudd, Tench, Bream & Gudgeon. The lake fishes well all year round and has 28 pegs. The deepest part is 4 metres at the centre of the lake. The most popular lake of the complex you need to be at fisheries early to get a peg. Match bookings taken year round Sunday bookings onlyfor Sundays only. Frog Hall Lake The Frog Hall has been a lake for over 100 years. It can accommodate 10 anglers. It is heavily stocked with Carp up to 27 lbs, Roach, Rudd, Perch and also has some Tench. Depth is around 3 metres in the middle, it is sheltered and in the far corner of the farm. Parking is at the side of the lake. Emily's Lake Emily’s lakes was built in 2004 and opened in 2005. Heavily stocked with Carp this has become a very popular day fishing and match fishing lake. Fish are now weighing up to 8lbs and giving anticipated match weights of 100+lbs during summer months. The lake has 37 pegs and parking, when dry, is behind each peg, or on the car park, which is nearby. Designed as a canal style lake, and often referred to as a Snake lake, this offers a great alternative to the Main Lake and Frog Hall. Match bookings taken for any day, except Mondays. Oscar's Lake Oscar’s lakes was also built in 2004 and opened in 2005. Heavily stocked with Carp this lake is smaller with only 31 pegs. Brilliant place to fish with lots of options and easy parking. Molly's is fishing particularly well at the moment (Aug 21) with banded 8mm fishery pellet / Robin Reds.
