Earls Colne Fishing

Earls Colne Reservoir, Colchester, Essex, CO6 2NS

Earls Colne Reservoir is a 3 acre mature lake that is on the outskirts of Colchester. The lake has been a carp day ticket in the past but had been shut down due to people leaving rubbish in swims, throwing line into the water and fish theft. This resulted in the landowners shutting the lake about 14 years ago and a no fishing policy was issued. 2 Years ago, we were able to convince the landowner that we would manage the lake properly and protect the fish and the environment from abuse.

We then cleared trees and made 8 swims that improve year on year, became registered for Catfish and stocked 46 Cats into the water up to the largest 62 lb, 40's, many 20's and a signature white catfish. With the lake closed except for some key fisherman, the fish have grown fantastically well and above expected rates reaching the magic 70lb mark this year. For Catfisherman, this water is second to none, 25 foot deep basin, no snags, private and protected and with potential personal bests for most anglers.

Carp have been improved, new fish stocked, fed with pellet and have all shown weight gain quicker then most fisheries in the area. With common carp, mirror carp, large koi and grass carp and weights upto 30lb, we believe that we offer fisherman a big choice.

The day ticket prices may be more than other waters locally but all moneys go back into improvements to the lake, purchase of new strains of fish and we are focusing on quality anglers, catching and looking after great fish in a very nice water. 24 hour security, otter fenced and secure, Earls Colne really is going to become one of the premier lakes in Essex.

Carp up to 30lb
Catfish up to 70lb
