Skylark Lakes

Skylark Lakes, Manea Road, Wimblington, March PE15 0PE

Skylarks have decided to offer the lakes as a day ticket carp fishery after many years of running them as Carp syndicate waters.

We have three lakes, the biggest of which is The Mere, which is slightly over seven acres in size with average depth of 1.3 meters. It has a large number of carp that are above 20 pounds, with a couple that are close to 30 pounds and a few that are just over 30 pounds.

Honey Lake, with 5.5 acres, is the second biggest lake, but it is also the shallowest, with an average depth of.9 meters. Honey Lake is our flagship carp lake, with a population of carp weighing in at least 25 pounds, with some exceeding 30 pounds. The lake is home to several exquisite Old English Carp with dark colors, as well as a lovely scaley Mirror Carp. Although the lake may get weedy, and you may need to rake it before fishing, the stunning beauty of the lake, with its Norfolk Reed bordered banks, mature shrubs and trees, and secret coves, more than makes up for the weed. The carp in this lake are quite intelligent, which makes for a difficult task, but one that is well worth it if you capture one. This lake is only suitable for expert fisherman.

Browns Lake, at slightly over 3 acres in size, is also our deepest, with an average depth of 1.4 meters. Browns Lake, like the Mere, has a healthy population of carp to 20 pounds and above. It also has nice tench, bream, roach, and pike.

To enhance the stock levels in Browns and The Mere, we introduced some new fish last year, both Mirror and Common Carp from 15lbs to 25lbs. We're happy to report that they're doing well.
