Burgh Castle Fisheries

Butt Lane, Belton, NR31 9PY, Norfolk, United Kingdom

Burgh Castle Fisheries is a small facility 4 miles from Great Yarmouth, nestled in the tranquil town of Burgh Castle.
Depending on your choices, there are three lakes with varied fish. Whether you wish to catch specimen carp up to 36 pounds, medium sized carp 6-18 pounds, match size carp 1-6 pounds, or quality tench 7 pounds and above, roach, perch, skimmer bream, goldfish, or crucian carp, there's something for everyone.
The main body of water

The main lake is designed for specimen carp fishing, with over 4 x 30lb to 36lb fish, 11 fish 25lb+, 40 x 20lb fish, and numerous high doubles. This lake has a tendency to produce enormous commons in the 25-36 pound range that are scale perfect, causing even local fishermen to be perplexed. This lake still has a few mysteries that will hopefully be revealed in the future. To get the villagers' tongues wagging, ask them about the strange silver common!!!

Although this lake is just 1.5 acres in size, there are still a few swims to get away from the main population.

The lake includes a variety of fishing opportunities, including reed beds, lily pads, two islands, and a major gravel bar. There are a few more minor gravel bars lingering about, but the silt patches, especially in the winter, are still worth a try.

Silver Birch (Birch, Silver)

The pleasure/match lake, Silver Birch, is about 3/4 acre in size. This lake has a nice population of tiny carp ranging from 1 to 8 pounds, yet it still produces the occasional double. It contains a variety of carp strains and breeds, including F1s, F2s, and crucians, to mention a few. There are teems of brown and orange goldfish, chublets, roach, rudd, perch, skimmers, specimen-sized tench, and the occasional grass carp in this lake, so you never know what you'll catch next.

This lake is suited for all sorts of pleasure/match fishing tactics, so whether you want to fish with a pole, waggler, or feeder, you will always be able to catch a good number of fish.

In matches, this lake has yielded over 60 pound bags of carp, 20 pound bags of silvers, and huge bags of tench.

Kingfisher

Kingfisher Lake is about 3/4 acre in size, with carp ranging from 2 to 18 pounds, a few nice tench, and a significant quantity of silver fish. This lake is ideal for getting a good bend in the rod or seeing an elastic fly on the pole. This lake lacks the nonstop action of the Siver Birch lake, but it does include a higher class of fish, so you'll know when you've hooked one.

This is for the fisherman who wants to catch a higher-quality fish than on the match lake, and who is willing to wait a little longer between bites than the bivvy lads on the main carp lake.

Pond for Stocks

Although fishing is prohibited in this stock pond, it includes a significant number of carp in the 2-5 pound range, including numerous doubles. There are a lot of goldfish and a few koi in this pond. We like to place future stocking fish in this pond to develop and reproduce in a stress-free environment before transferring them to Kingfisher or Silver Birch lakes, depending on their size and requirements.

I've not fished the lake, but just saw the other comment and it sounds like Micky Mouse has a bit of an attitude problem and knows nothing about fish care.

good carp lake spoiled by arrogant owners , I was told I can't fish the big lake without a cradle and even though they had several laying around they wouldn't lend me one and also the toilet is a joke totally unusable full of brambles . It could be a great fishery for everybody but the owners are only friendly to their mates and the locals. Shame
