Felthorpe Lakes

Mirror Lake

With a little more than two acres, this is the largest of the three lakes. The depth ranges from three to seven feet deep. The lake has a natural appearance, with trees and plants around it, generating a variety of intriguing aspects.

Carp of all sizes, including grass carp, common, mirror, koi, and crucian, may be found in the lake. It's also a terrific lake for tench, roach, rudd, perch, and we've recently caught a Ruff in there. The day before the lockdown, we placed 350 crucians and 400 tiny common and mirror carp in the lake.

There are two major islands and a small cluster of smaller islands, all of which have interesting elements to hunt for. It's tough to tell which baits work best all of the time on any lake, but it's a good idea to have the essentials on hand, such as pellets, luncheon meat, sweet corn, and bread. Boilies do work, but the huge range makes it difficult to recommend which one to use.

Foxes Lake is a smaller yet deeper version of Mirror Lake. The lake's edges are extremely steep, which provides some excellent margin fishing, including an island.

Carp such as common, mirror, koi, and crucian are stocked in the lake. The Foxes produced our best tench. Roach, Rudd, Perch, and a fair number of Bream are also present.

Shadows Lake

This is the tiniest of the lakes available, but nevertheless a decent place to catch silver fish, tench, and carp. Due to the highly unpleasant lily pads that have been an issue, it has been the least utilized of the lakes to date.

The stock comprises a fair number of tiny to medium-sized carp, as well as a few larger specimens, but the nature of this lake remains a mystery. Tench, Roach, Rudd, Perch, and a few bream are among the other species.

Lovely setting and very natural. Access is good and only a short distance from the car to set up. Owner is friendly and laid back. There is a toilet on site. Take your own loo roll..
