Weston Pools comprises of 4 lakes set in 20 acres of idyllic surroundings on the outskirts of Oswestry town centre. All the pools have been built and landscaped by the owner Mike Philbin.
The first pool built was the Wilfred Owen in 2003, followed The Belvidere in 2004, then The Stretton in 2005 and the latest development was in 2006 which is The Canal. All the pools have an average depth of 5 foot and 3 foot in the margins. All the pools have recently been restocked with Carp to 10lb, Chub to 1lb and Tench to 1lb. From November 2007 we will be adding an extra stocking of F1's to 1lb.
The Wilfred Owen Pool
The first of our pools which was designed and built by owner and match angler Mike Philbin in 2003. The pool has 20 platformed pegs. The depth varies from 3 foot to 5 foot. The pool has a single island situated towards one end in the middle. The recent stocking in this pool include, mirror carp, common carp, chub and tench. The carp go to 10lb while the chub and tench are from 1lb upwards. From November 2007 the F1's up to 1lb will be introduced.
The Belvidere Pool
The second of our pools which was designed and built by owner and match angler Mike Philbin in 2004. The pool has 27 platformed pegs. The depth varies from 3 foot to 7 foot. The pool has a two tiny islands. The recent stocking in this pool include, mirror carp, common carp, chub and tench. The carp go to 10lb while the chub and tench are from 1lb upwards. From November 2007 the F1's up to 1lb will be introduced.
Stretton Pool
Work is almost complete on the Stretton Pool. The pool will be filled shortly and a new stocking added. The islands have been removed. The depth down the edge is now around 4 foot deep and 6 foot beyond the shelf. The pool will have a completely new stock of fish. Common Carp from 8 ounces will be the main stock.
