The lakes have been established for a number of years and have a varied fly life and they are suitable for any form of fly fishing. They are stocked from rearing facility at Bessy Beck with Rainbow and blue trout. On the Heron lake you can come along, hire the tackle and catch your own trout for dinner. The Heron lake is all catch and kill. Mallard lake is really suitable for the fly fisher just starting out. Island lake is stocked with trout 2.5lb to 15lb and is for the experienced fly fisher.
