Situated on Marlborough Road, Swindon, Coate Water is a fantastic community resource providing a perfect setting for a simple and enjoyable family day out. Nestling in a beautiful country setting, the park provides a peaceful oasis that can be used freely and enjoyed by all members of the community. Coate Water Country Park has a 56-acre reservoir built in the 1820s as a headwater tank for the Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal. In the 1970s a smaller lake was created as a flood storage lagoon, which was made Wiltshire’s first Local Nature Reserve (LNR) in 1976. Carp to 43lb, pike bream, roach, tench, rudd and skimmers. Day tickets are availabale on the bank for season tickets (including night fishing where preference is given to locals) contact the Ranger Centre.
