Kiveton Hall Farm is a very popular location situated on the outskirts of Sheffield.
The complex offers very good facilities for both the Match Man and those interested in general coarse fishing.
In all, there are three lakes on this complex, with good car parking facilities adjacent to each one.
In addition there is also a café on site that serves good food at reasonable prices.
The water is very exposed and the sparsely planted trees do little to protect the water from the wind. So wrap up warm.
The first water you'll see is the match lake, which is the biggest of the three and caters for up to 44 anglers. Spread over 2 acres, it is 3 ft deep in the margins and slopes down very gradually to a maximum of 4 ft. It is very popular with the local match scene, the match weights are always very competitive with weights in the forties usually securing a place. This lake holds a good head of Carp with the biggest running to just short of 20lb. Barbel are stocked, the biggest to 6lb. Roach up to a pound and a half ensure sport through the winter months, with Tench to 3lb and Chub to 5lb 2oz. There are also Crucians and Gudgeon.
The two baits that work at this water are Caster and Pellet. Pellet is well used on the matches, whilst caster will help pick out the better fish, especially when the weather drops colder.
The oldest lake on the complex is the Carp lake, which is approximately 2 acres in size. The water used to be syndicated and holds fish that are pushing the 30lb mark. Again this pond is used for matches and to this end there are a lot of smaller Carp averaging 3lb. There is an island that holds fish around its edges and laying up close can generally secure a fish if everything else fails. Most of the water is about 4ft deep, but the far end is slightly deeper at 5ft.
The final water is a junior pond that is so solid with silver fish. There are 12 pegs on this small water, which is just 3ft deep. Fishing at this complex is always very consistent and you are generally guaranteed a bite from a targeted fish at some point in the day.
