Amalwhidden Farm coarse fishery is comprised of two lakes located in an area of great natural beauty near Towednack, Cornwall, about three miles from St. Ives.
Heron Lake is roughly 1.5 acres in size and has twenty evenly distributed flat platforms with a depth of 4-9 feet. It is very well stocked with Mirror, Common, and Ghost Carp weighing up to 14lb, as well as many fish at 6-8lb. There are also a large number of double figure fish. On this lake, 100lb nets have been frequently grabbed during contests. In the center, there is an island planted with Gunneras; surrounding the island, there is a sunken ledge that serves as a nice fish retaining feature.
Fir Tree Pond is about 1.25 acres in size and has 16 pegs with a depth of 4-7 feet and a shallow stretch along one side of the main island that is 2-4 feet deep. It is very well stocked with a variety of high-quality coarse fish, including bream to 3lb, tench to 3lb, crucian carp, perch, and roach to 1lb. It is surrounded by two islands, which provide noteworthy characteristics.
