High Dam Lake

B764 Moor road, Eaglesham, G76 0, Glasgow City, United Kingdom

High Dam is a 3.5 acre reservoir, situated 1/2 mile outside Eaglesham. It has a dam wall but is one of the most natural dams to fish in Scotland. Being only 8ft deep means that the surface action is unbeatable. Surrounded by fields and natural weed beds there is always plenty of fly life on the water.
The fishery was active until just after World War II, then around 1960 it was stocked with Loch Leven brown trout. To this day we still get some of these natural silvery brownies caught (up to 5lb, maybe higher).
The fishery reopened June of 2009 after a 10 year break, and have stocked heavily since (hard fighting, fully finned rainbows and blues). The average weight of fish caught is 2.8lb, but there are some up to double figures out there to catch.
There is bank and boat fishing, and float tubes as well as hire them. Bait fishing as well as fly is permitted. The High Dam fishery has also started a Camping & Night fishing service.
Tackle hire and purchase can be provided onsite, and tuition by appointment is available to help you get that perfect cast every time. High Dam fishery is also wheelchair friendly.
