Phoenix Park Lake

Castlefields Avenue E, Runcorn, WA7 2, Cheshire, United Kingdom

This is a members-only water - No Day Tickets are available.Formerly known as Town Park Lake, this water is in the new Phoenix park development near Runcorn. This lake is a truly mixed fishery with carp, tench, bream, roach, perch, rudd, pike and eels present. The club has previously stocked the lake with around 100 carp, which seem to average around mid-doubles, and specimens have been caught to just under 30lbs. In March 2008, the club added a few thousand roach and bream.

Carp, tench, roach, rud, bream, skimmers, perch and pike. Apparently there are other spiecies too ie. eel but I've not had any. It's not easy to catch big carp here but you will see them all day long and if you prepare your swim , rake it first then bait up then you might get lucky. Raking also works as great attractant for tench and bream. 9lb tench and 5lb bream been caught here before. Roach bream and tench are quite easy to catch so even a begginer will catch decent size fish. Bottom is mainly flat and silty with depths ranging from 3 feet by the island to 12 feet opposite end. Middle is flat 7 to 8 feet, there are some sandy bars and deeper trench. Find them and you will find big fish. Dedicated team is regularly working on the pegs and patrolling this club water so make sure you have your club membership and EA licence with you at all times when you visit this picturesque venue.
