Alcove Angling Club is one of the fastest growing clubs in the west. Club controls following waters: The Clamp, The Lido and Whitehouse Farm. The Clamp at Coalpit Heath features four platform swims suitable for wheel chair users. The Lido at Fishponds Bristol is a mixed fishery lake, with carp, roach, tench, rudd and pike etc. Margaret's lake is a mixed fishery. George's lake is an established lake. The well-known Alcove Lido at Fishponds was originally a clay pit owned by the Fishponds and Bedminster Brick & Tile Co., situated on a ten acre site, south of Fishponds Road, to the rear of No. 466. All members are expected to co-operate in the preservation of the wildlife, flora and fauna at all club waters. Unaccompanied children under the age of 14 years will not be allowed to fish any waters controlled by Alcove Angling Club. Children under 12 years of age must fish the same swim as, and use 1 of the 2 rods, of the accompanying adult. An Environmental Agency rod licence is required on all club waters. Members must carry their membership tab and appropriate rod licence with them at all times and produce them for inspection if requested by any bailiff, landowner or officer of the club. Dogs are only allowed at the Lido and Whitehouse Farm and must be kept totally under control and on a short lead at all times. Radios, tape recorders, guns, tins of any sort, alcohol and drugs are banned on or near the club waters.
