The specimen carp lake is around 3.5 acres in size and has 16 pegs. It consists of a number of smaller islands connected by a bigger main island, providing lots of features and margins for fishing. The lake has a clay bottom, bars/shelfs, and open flat parts that are all fairly accessible.
The staff at Acorn completed some substantial work/improvements to the main lake in March 2019, including de-silting the lake, re-building swims, and rebuilding huts, among other things, allowing us to do a full health check on our ever-surprising, but pleasant fish supply.
The fish population has grown to over 400 magnificent Carp, ranging in size from 15lb to 38lb and higher, with well over half of them in their mid to upper 20s and 30s.
Each year, the lake is netted to remove any smaller carp or fry, which are then collected and placed into our smaller stock ponds.
