River Stour - Stourpaine

Havelins, Stourpaine, DT11 8, Dorset, United Kingdom

The Havelins segment of the river is about a mile upstream of Stourpaine. Throughout the section, dense vegetation borders the nearside riverbank. When the shoals are identified, this deep (8-10ft) even-paced stretch offers outstanding Roach fishing and decent Bream sport. Large Perch may be found along the length, with fish weighing in at over 3 pounds.

At the bottom of the length, there are a few Chub, as well as a few Carp and Tench.

In the winter, float fishing for bread punch offers nice mixed bags of Roach, Bream, and Chublets. For excellent Perch, feed chopped worm and ledger lobworms beneath overhanging trees.
