Ennerdale Lake

Woodend, CA22 2, Cumbria, United Kingdom

Longlands Lake is a legacy of West Cumbria's former iron mining industry and did not exist until 1939 - when the ground finally gave way. It lies adjacent to the River Ehen between Cleator Moor and Egremont and is now part of a small country park and public access area managed by Cumbria County Council and provides quiet refuge for both wildlife and humans.
The lake itself is managed by Wath Brow and Ennerdale Angling Association who stock the lake regularly with rainbow trout. A wheelchair accessible platform has been constructed while elsewhere around the lake a number of other casting platforms have been built. in places steep banks and trees make for some rather tricky casts but the lake can offer good fishing in an area desperately short of stocked stillwaters.
Day permits are available.
Day permits are available from Farrens shop in Cleator, Udales Newsagents, Cleator Moor and from Wathbrow Post Office.
