Aldenham Country Park Reservoir

Dagger Lane, Elstree, WD6 3AT, Herts, United Kingdom

An indoor and outdoor multi-sensory play and education centre for children and young people with special needs and disability with some integrated play.

We are a purpose built indoor and outdoor play centre in a gated secure facility for mainly 0-19 year old children and young adults with special needs and disability to meet, share and enjoy a range of experiences in a supportive and safe environment. Friends, family and visitors with a commitment, empathy and understanding for all who attend to be able to have a relaxed, enjoyable and safe experience are welcome.

The centre is run by privately owned Aldenham Country Park which allows access to the wider park when visiting such as 100 Aker Wood to explore the home of Winnie the Pooh, explore nature walks with art trails, and feed the animals at the rare breeds petting farm where there are milking demos and seasonal activities. It is popular for visitors to the playground to combine a play session with a pony ride or a tumble on the monkey nets.

During play sessions there are arts and craft sessions, activities during holidays and horticulture mainly inside ensuring there is always something to do regardless of the weather.

There are soft play areas and sensory rooms to relax and play in, a reading corner, musical instruments and a range of resources for allowing expression and play.

There is a Sensi-floor, pool table, dining area and a main room where activities take place.

The adventure playground has three main zones that harmoniously interlink in to adventure, free-play and sensory play pieces. Around the hobbit tunnel is surrounded by many play equipment to explore including a basket swing, musical chimes, sandy Robinia Timber playpoints, a treehouse slide, zip wire and much more.

Often parents and carers tell us that the wild rabbits come right up to them and there is lots more wildlife to spot as the playground was built in natural woodland.

We also have a resident rabbit called Toffee and it is possible to meet him on particular days.

There are exciting development plans and the plants that the children help us to sow are planted in the sensory garden. Please come and take part in the journey. We need volunteers to get the sensory garden going.

It would really help us if you would ‘like’ and ‘share’ our page to be kept up-to-date with activities, events and join our developing community.

Please come and support us in keeping the playground open - spread the word, book a play session and use the centre.
